Polished Man 26

I'm painting my nail blue to build a future free from violence.

Every person deserves to feel safe and cared for. But the pressure on men to hide their feelings and act tough is hurting their mental health, and in some cases leading men to think it's acceptable to control or even harm women and children. Polished Man backs the role models men already trust, to flip the script: helping men open up, ask for help, and show up for the people they love.

One painted nail starts a conversation. It's a small, visible sign that helps create new possibilities for how we show up for ourselves and each other.

Please sponsor me and help build safe, caring communities free from violence. Funds raised go directly towards backing local leaders, safer workplaces and storytelling that shifts the culture for good. Thanks for your support.

My mum.

Friday 21st Aug
My mother, Vicki, the strongest and most driven person I know. Shes always fighting for me even when I might not need it, My biggest fan. She’s a survivor of life as a woman, bad relationships, lost men who feel lots and show it in the most negative ways. I grew up in a split family, after the split mum moved to north country, to this tin shed of a home, 3 Friedrich Street. In the early years I remember coming home from time with dad and being so excited to see what mum had done and added to the home. Grass, an extension to the home, a Pool. She was always working, never a off day. I’d learn later that she’d faced battle after battle, the sweat and tears to give us those safe 4 walls. I hold a deep deep love for that house as it was one of her best accomplishments, another 3 was my sisters and I. This is one of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken. My mums kit. 35 years, 3 houses & 2 stores, 25 rooms, countless paint brushes, multiple colours and coats. Just one jumper. A work of art. Onya mum.

I’m joining ygap's Polished Man campaign to help end violence against women and children.
